Located at the center of Beijing City is Tiananmen Square, where you can visit Tiananmen Tower , Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and see the national flag raising ceremony. Thousands of people come to the Square every day. It is the must place to visit in Beijing City .

Tiananmen Square is the largest downtown square in the world. It is named after its magnificent Tian’anmen Rostrum (Gate of Heavenly Peace), which was the first gate of the Imperial City .

It covers an area of 44 hectares, big enough to hold one million people. From the red wall of the Tian'anmen Rostrum in the north to the south gate, it measures some 880 meters, and from the Museum of Chinese Revolution and Chinese History in the east to the Great Hall of the People in the west, it is about 500 meters.

The present Tiananmen Square has an area of 440,000 square meters and has become a relaxing place for the common people to fly kites and walk. On a holiday, the whole square is covered with fresh flowers. Five Star Red Flag-the Chinese national flag, flies high in the sky above the Square. To see the guard of honor raise the Flag is a must for the tourist visiting Beijing City .
Now Tiananmen Square is one of the most famous and popular places in China . It is the place for celebrations on such festive days as International Labor Day on May 1 and National Day on October 1.
