The Ancient Town of Lijiang has been inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO for its well preservation. Lijiang City is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province with a total area of 20,600 square kilometers (about 7,954 square miles) and a population over 1,100,000.

From time unmemorable, Lijiang has been inhabited by many nationalities and has a long and glorious history. It was the political, economic and cultural center in the northwest of Yunnan Province . It was also a very important distributing center to Tibet and other places in the Han (206BC-220) and Tang (618-907) dynasties. The topography of Lijiang City varies very much. So there are mountainous areas, plains and valleys. The highest altitude is Shanzidou, the main peak of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain . In addition, Lijiang has rich tour resources. The famous ones are Jade Dragon Snow Mountain , Laojun Mountain , Lijiang Old Town , Lugu Lake and Jinsha River . Moreover, this city is also famous for its Naxi culture and Mosuo custom. It is known as the most romantic palace for the reason that every ethnic group in Lijiang has many romantic activities and has special festival such as Naxi people’s “Sanduo Festival” and Yi people’s “Torch Festival”. An American scholar arrived at Lijiang in 1921 and the Dongba culture of Naxi Nationality began to attract the attention of the foreign scholars.

With it’s amazing natural scenery, various ethic groups’ customs and historical culture, the Lijiang City is regarded as the most romantic palace in China .
