Bama Roast Pig


Bama Roast Pig originates in Bama Autonomous County, Gunagxi Autonomous Region, China. In May, 1995, Bama was named as the original palace of roast pig of china by the National Specialty Economy Committee. Thus Bama Roast Pig is viewed as a local special of Bama.

 Bama Roast Pig is famous for its thin skin, tender meat and delicate taste. The special thing is that pigs raised by Bama people are full of fragrance during roasting without putting condiments on it. The Bama Roast Pig also becomes word-wide famous for it contains lots of nourishment. It’s meat has protein as highly as 21.8%, which surpassed 31.1% 一 70% than ordinary pigs. And it has lower fat and has almost the same proportion of calcium and phosphorus with eggs. With the abundant amino acid and trace elements in its meat, the Bama Roast Pig now is seen as the food rich in nutrition. Many people take it as food for keeping health.

Because of Bama Roast Pig’s fame, there are many roast pigs made by outside of Bama appear on the market with the name “Bama Roast Pig” , which greatly destroys the genuine honor of Bama Roast Pig. So Bama people applied for geographic protection to maintain their interests by writing to the Bureau of National Quality Instruction and Inspection Vaccine since 2004, and finally succeeded to get it in 2005.
