Heye rice

The Heye rice is a very populous food in Guangdong province. It is famous for its fragrance of lotus leaf and its soft and loose rice.
It is mainly made of rice, coordinating with some seasonings, such as roast meat, lean meat, and black mushroom, even crab meat. These raw materials are wrapped with fresh lotus leaves and put into a covered pan after tied. And then this small wrap is steamed in the pan. When being steamed for about 10 minutes, the delicious food is produced. But, if one wants to make more delicate Heye rice, he/she must pay more attention to the time of steaming the food. When the lotus leaf begins to turn yellow from green, it is the best time to take it off the pan.
The Heye rice is not only famous for its good taste, but also for its function of clearing the summer-heat. So it is favored by Guangdong people, for they live in a hot climate in the summer.
