Railway on the World Roof

Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the world's highest railway, began its service on July 1. The Railway, which starts from Xining, capital of northwest China's Qinghai Province, and ends in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, is the first railway ever to go to Tibet. Some 550 kilometers of the 1,956 km history-making railway are built on frozen earth.
Tibet is the place where ethnic culture was preserved to the most complete extent, and where people can enjoy traditional culture with original taste. With the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, more and more Chinese and foreign tourists will come to Tibet, the most important influence on the traditional Tibetan culture shall be that more people will learn and understand Tibetan culture, and bring forward the excellent traditional Tibetan culture.
