Great Wall began to construct in 7th or 8th centuries BC, and continued now and then for over 2,000 years. The wall stretches across the vast area of north and central China, with a total length of more than 50,000km, reputed as “Enlivened for 2,000 years and Maneuvering for 100,000 li”.
Great Wall is amazingly great indeed, and well worth its fame as one of the seven wonders in human history. It enjoys a high value in tourism and in culture. Thanks to the thoughtful restoration and maintenance, quite a few sections of the wall are world favored tourists’ resorts, such as Shanhai Pass, Badaling section of Juyong Pass, Simatai section, Mutianyu section, and Jiayu Pass. The evoking view from the wall aloft on the mountains seems always bringing back the arms resounding of ancient warriors. True enough, its has long before relieved its military duties, yet its long history, its grandeur, and its heroism are eternal on the land of China. Richard Nixon, former president of United States, remarked on his visiting, “ This is the Great Wall and only a great people with a great past could have a great wall and such a great people with such a great wall will surly have a great future.”
