Mt Taishan
Mt Taishan also referred to as the Eastern Sacred Mountain, it stands with grandeur in central Shangdaong Province, between Tai’an at its south foot and Jianan City as its north foot, covering an area of 250km2, with its summit Jade Emperor Peak 1,545m above sea level. Through history it has always been honored as “the first” and “the most sublime” of the five sacred mountains in China.
Mt Taishan has a long history and was always the symbol of monarchy, it was a sacred mountain to the kings and emperors, who would all came to offer their Fengshan Sacrifice ceremony, gratitude worship to the heaven and earth the moment they assumed the crown or in the year of peace and abundant harvest. The emperor’s honor worship and the multi-splendor of Mt Taishan attract literate figures of all times who are thereafter so touched and have left over a thousand inscriptions of praise.
Mt Taishan is a microcopy of the thousands years old civilization of China that contains a cultural wealth no other mountain in the world is comparable. Just like the Great Wall, Yellow River, and Yangtz River, Mt Taishan is now the symbole of Chinese people. In December of 1987, UNESCO inscribed Mt Taishan on the World Heritage List as both a natural and a cultural property of the whole world.
