Being an important route-way to Southeast Asia and a famous area for international tourism, Xishuang Banna of China has the character of having big population mobility, thus threatening by the AIDS epidemic greatly. And now, Monks of Xishuang Banna participate in the campaign of AIDS prevention actively, as a new blood of the organization to spread the knowledge related to AIDS.
The monks appeal for striking to AIDS with the method of sending out materials about the harm of AIDS at their Buddhist activities. They specially establish an organization, called the “Light of Buddha”, to provide the information about hazards of AIDS and taking drugs. And to the people infected AIDS, the organization also offer varied serves, such as consultation on how to alleviate the influence of AIDS, helping for these patients to come back to normal life, and supporting to maintain mental health.
All the deeds are taken by the monks willingly, considering they should do such things, as Buddhist.
