Four famous embroidery styles

Guangdong Embroidery, together with Jiangsu Embroidery, Hunan Embroidery and Sichuan Embroidery, are the four major schools of embroidery in China. 
Guangdong Embroidery is well known for its gorgeous color, distinct contrasts, graphic patterns and imagery, well-conceived designs, and changeable needle technique. The most gorgeous and luxurious is the gold thread embroidery. Sichuan Embroidery needling characteristics lie in "the even stitches, bright threads, closeness and softness in texture, and both centrifugal and centripetal needling". Its products include pillowcases, embroidered slippers, mirror curtain, lace, wedding dress, scroll, hats and shoes, skirts, quilt facing, etc. It mainly employs the themes of auspicious happiness. Jiangsu embroidery is known for its delicacy and elegance. It has a wide range of themes. The design is usually very simple, high lighting a main theme. Its techniques include both single faced embroidery and unique double-faced embroidery that looks the same from either side. Xiang embroidery is famous for its tiger patterns.
