where do you sit? You ‘d better not randomly go and pick the best seat or right next to a friend of your host. There is a specific order to where you can sit. The host sits nearest to the door.  The guest of honor sits opposite.  Other honorary guests sit to the left of the guest of honor.
From ancient times, Chinese think “left” is nobler than “right”, ”inner is nobler than outer, so wife is always standing at the left side of her husband. We can see that men and women were not equal at that time. When we take a photo for a big family, the most senior people will sit in the centre, than the less senior ones will stand beside them.
