Chinese festivals

The Chinese festivals are based according to the lunar calendar. The Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important event. It is the time for people to greet the beginning of a New Year and for family reunion. 
After this cultural event comes the Ching Ming festival in spring where people return to their ancestors' graves to pay their respects. In May arrives the Duan Wu festival; it's a ceremony in order to remember the great patriot and poet, Qu Yuan. Later on in August, Chinese celebrate the mid-autumn moon festival. This festival represent family unity and people enjoy the moon light by feasting on moon cakes. 
These festivals play an important role in the Chinese culture. Near the arrival of a festival, the Chinese are preoccupied preparing food and decoration for the special event. These events generally give the Chinese a joyous and exciting atmosphere.
