In the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is Qinghai Lake, also known as "The World's Ridge." It is the largest inland salt lake in China. It is also called "Fresh Water" or "West Sea". In Mongolian it is called "Kukunuoer", and in Tibetan it is called "Cuobu Lake" -both of these names mean "Green Lake." Qinghai Lake stands at an altitude of 3200 meters, it is 4456 square kilometers, 360 kilometers in perimeter, and 19 meters deep. It's waters sparkle green and blue, like a sapphire set in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.
This magic land is inhabited by people of numerous ethnic minorities who have created a unique culture with distinctive characteristics and colorful folk songs and dances. The songs and music in this disk are a revelation of emotions and aesthetic pursuits of the people in Qinghai Province. As located at about 3,200 meters above sea level, the lake covers 4,300 square kilometers. It has abundant fish and other aquatic creatures, which in turn attracts large flocks of birds to perch in the islands of the lake. At that time ,the senery is very beautiful.That’s the main reason why every year,thousands of visitors will come here no matter how far they live.
The other four of the most beautiful lakes selected by the magazine are Kanas Lake in Xinjiang, Namtso Lake in Tibet, Heaven‘s Pool (Tian Chi) in northeast China‘s Jilin Province and and West Lake in east China‘s Zhejiang Province.
