China boasts many beautiful lakes, rivers and mountains that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages and abilities. There are many guides and tour operators available to take you to the best locations, or you can venture out to them on your own if you are willing to work through language and other issues. The mountains of China are particularly spectacular, ranging from towering peaks to more gentle slopes with lush scenery.
If you spend time in the more rural areas of China, you will experience not only the natural beauty and grandeur of the land, but also a “snapshot in time” back to the ways and activities of traditional Chinese. Many of these rural communities are small, close knit, and the residents often take some time to become comfortable trusting visitors to their lands.
