In China, there are generally two guides in one group, national guide and local guide. National guide usually go with a tour group of more than 10 people, from the first city you enter China to the last city in China. The national guide is responsible for matters within airport (as the local guide can not overpass the security line), lead the group to the next city and handle all people and luggage to the local guide. The national guide also checks the local guide's service, makes sure all promised program and meals realized, and deal with all any expected things together with local guide and tour leader. The national guide cannot leave the group until all tourists have left.
Local guide, serving to local travel agency which reserve all meals, bus and sightseeing, leads the group to finish all programs in that city and deals with all things happened. For example,if one tourist is seriously sick, the local guide should call relevant hospital, and together with national guide and tour leader, to take the tourist to the hospital. But if the tourist can not be recovered soon, local guide has to back to the group with the national guide staying with the tourist.
