You will fly to Urumqi, the capital city of the autonomous province Xinjiang in the northwest of China. A bus will bring you further north to Burjing City in the prefecture of Altai. This region is covered with beautiful grassland and inhabited mainly by the Kazakh nomads with their horses and sheep. During this trek uphill we will pass mountain areas with spectacular scenery. In the following days we will walk on pasture land with beautiful flowers and birds, through forests, passing small villages that are nestled along rivers or minor roads, coming across people on horses looking after their sheep. While hiking we will spend the nights camping in tents all way. After about four days we will enter the Kanas area on our way to the well-known Kanas Lake, which is a very beautiful mountain lake with an area of 45 square kilometers elevated 1370 m above sea level. Its deepest spot is about 190 m. It is surrounded by mountains covered with pine trees and its landscape is incredibly beautiful. From a boat on the lake in early morning we will enjoy the great view: blue sky, white clouds, green trees and grass, high mountains with bright snow caps that are glittering in the sunshine. After this impressive experience, we will trek downhill westwards on pasture land and camp at the foot of a hill. At a campfire we will spend the last night under the open sky with nomads, eating, drinking, singing and dancing - enjoying ourselves.
