Yesterday, a new scenic spot called Red Leaf Ridge in Beijing Badaling National Forest Park opened to visitors. The luxuriant red autumn leaves and jade cypress contrast the nearby magnificent Badaling Great Wall so prettily that attracted numerous visitors' coming.
With a total area of 2940 hectare (7265 acres), the Beijing Badaling National Forest Park is situated between Badaling Great Wall and Juyongguan Pass. Many famous scenic spots are scatted in it and the Red Leaf Ridge is the new opened one.
In Red Leaf Ridge, over 50,000 red-leaf trees such as fustet are planted. As Badaling is 500 meters (1640 feet) higher than Beijing city in altitude, the red autumn leaves usually can be admired 15 days prior to those in the city. The period from Sep 29th to Oct 28th is regarded as the best time to see red leaves on Red Leaf Ridge. And red leaves will take on their best scenes around Oct 15th.
