Skiing on a crowded trail can be difficult and dangerous

When ski resorts fill up, skiing on a crowded trail can be difficult and sometimes even dangerous! Especially when the trail gets narrow, it can be hard work to navigate through other skiers. Skiing safely on crowded trails is necessary for everyone's safety and well being. For a safe and happy ski experience even when the trails get crowded, follow these tips:
Keep your speed in check at all times. On a crowded trail, it is necessary to maintain control - it's even harder to ski on a congested, narrow trail when you're going fast! It will be easier for you to ski around people when you are traveling at a moderate pace.
Don't stop abruptly in the middle of the trail. If you need to stop, stopping suddenly in the middle of a trail can be a hazard when people are trying to ski around you.
Instead, slow your pace down and look uphill to find a moment where you can safely pull over to the side of the trail.
Ski under control. Make sure that you always ski under control on a crowded trail - now isn't the time to find jumps and catch air or race your friend.
If you're passing another skier, call out which side you will be passing them on. No skier can see behind them, so if you're going to be passing someone, call out which side you will be passing them on. For example, if you were to pass another skier on their right, you could call out anything from "Right side!" to "On your Right!", or you could simply say "Right." The skier will know that you are approaching them. This is a must to avoid collisions.
Show others skiers respect. Try and be as respectful as possible to other skiers on the trail - don't cut anyone off, and if there are young children skiing, try and give them as much room as possible.
If you fall, try to get up immediately. If you catch an edge and fall and you are not hurt, try to get up immediately and regroup yourself on the side of the trail. That way, you won't be putting yourself at risk for a collision in the center of the trail.
