Destination Beijing Religion Tour

Freedom of religious belief in China is guaranteed by law. Normal activities of different religions can be carried out in China according to their rights prescribed by the constitution and law. Buddhim and Taoism are comparatively widespread in China, but there is no correct estimate of the number of their devotees. There are more than 100 million religious followers in China, more than 85,000 places of worship, and 3,000 religious communities with 30,000 clergy to serve the spiritual needs of their followers.

The Temple of Confucius (551-479 BC)
The Temple of Confucius, the present site of the Capital Museum is located in Guozijian Street. It is here that Confucius was worshipped during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties (1279-1911). The temple was first built by in 1302 in the Yuan Dynasty, and was restored and rebuilt on several occasions during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 1737, during the reign of Qing Emperor Qianlong, the major hall was renovated and was recovered with magnificent yellow glazed roof tiles. In 1906, when the worship of Confucius was further emphasized by the Qing Government, the temple underwent extensive restoration which lasted until 1916.

White Cloud Taoist Temple (Baiyunguan)
Taoism, a religion native to China, has a history of 1,800 years. It originated from shamanism and the various practices intended to ensure immortality in the Qin (221 BC—AD 23) dynasties, Zhang Daoling is credited with founding the religion of Taoism an Heming Mountain (in Dayi County, Sichuan Province) during the reign of Emperor Shundi ( AD126—AD144). The White Cloud Taoist Temple is the Chief temple of the Quanzhen Taoist sect and the centre of the Longmen sub-sect.

Yonghegong Lamasery
Yonghegong is a famous lamasery located in the northeastern part of the old city of Beijing. This magnificent temple consists of five main buildings lying on the north-south axis, with annex halls standing on both side. The temple is listed by the Chinese Government as one of the important historical monuments under special preservation. After the death of his father, Emperor Yongzheng moved to the Forbidden City. The compound was closed to ordinary people and was renamed Yonghegong (the palace of Harmony). It is now not only a functional lama temple, but also a tourist attraction.

Day 01 

Arrive in Beijing, we meet you at the airport and transfer to the hotel in downtown. In the afternoon, you are at leisure for shopping or additional exploration. You can have a rest and make plenty of preparation for the exciting tour waiting for you. (D)

Day 02

After breakfast, you'll visit Tiananmen Square. Then you will enter the Forbidden City, the home of Chinese Emperors for more than 500 years. It is the place to go if you want to see the most complete and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings and historical treasures in China. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven, which has been called "the noblest example of religious architecture in the whole of China".  We will visit the famous Yonghegong Lamasery which is the 18-metre-high Maitreya statue engraved from a 26-metre-long white sandalwood log. In the evening, attend a welcome banquet featuring Beijing Roast Duck, specially prepared for you! (B,L,D)

Day 03

The highlight today is an excursion to the Badaling Great Wall. As the old Chinese saying tells: "No one is a real man unless he has climbed the Great Wall". You can enjoy the dramatic vistas and marvel at the Wall as it climbs and descends steep ridges and narrow valleys. After lunch, we will visit the White Cloud Taoist Temple which is the chief temple of the Quanzhen Taoist. Enjoy the Beijing Opera in the evening (B,L,D)

Day 04

After breakfast, visit the Summer Palace, which encompasses Longevity Hill and a series of palaces, pavilions, terraces and covered walks strung out along the northern shore of Kunming Lake. Visit the famous The Temple of Confucius. Finish the happy tour in Beijing. We wish you are not only satisfied your eyes and your stomach, and also have a deep understand about Chinese Religion.
